If you were missing your dose of Sugar Rush, or looking for an excuse to “wreck-it,” you’re in luck–Wreck-It Ralph will head back to big screens in 2018 for its very own sequel.
Directed by Rich Moore and Phil Johnston, the sequel will see the return of stars John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman as Ralph and Vanellope von Schweetz. The directors and Reilly announced the sequel on Facebook Live, where Reilly said, “I’m really looking forward to playing the big lug again. Making the first ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ was one of the most special experiences I’ve ever had and I’m really looking forward to bringing him back to life.”
Moore started working on the sequel while directing Zootopia, and has big plans for the misanthropic duo of Ralph and Vanellope: “This time, Ralph’s wrecking wreaks havoc on the Web — as only he can do.”
Johnston added, “The world of the internet is the perfect place to send Ralph and Vanellope. The scope and scale are so vast and the possibilities for comedy are endless.”
At the very least, this direction will allow for barrels of topical humor than should delight kids and adults alike. We do seem to spend an awful lot of time on the internet, after all….
Wreck-It Ralph 2 will hit theaters on March 9, 2018.
